VOCM Cares raised over $100,000 in total yesterday for two hospitals on the west coast.
In the morning, a radiothon was held in support of a two-year program at the Dr. Charles L. Legrow Health Centre in Port Aux Basques to purchase new critical care monitoring equipment. Over $45,000 was raised.
Then, yesterday afternoon a radiothon was held in support of purchasing new dialysis units at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville. Over $56,000 was raised for that cause.
The province has committed to matching the funds raised from the events up to $50,000 each.
VOCM Cares will be back at it again today with a radiothon in support of the Western Regional Hospital Foundation in Corner Brook.
Meanwhile, VOCM Cares is launching its annual food drive in support of the Community Food Sharing Association today.
The drive is running until October 13th.
Donations can be made at various Sobey’s locations in the metro region and at regular Metrobus routes.
As well, monetary donations can be made on the association’s website.
