Special weather statements cover much of the island today to reflect the arrival of the white stuff. Not that any significant amounts are in the offing, but it is the first snow of the season.
Jody Boyd, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, says they issued the special statement only because of the time of year and that it is first snow.
The area from Clarenville to the west may get up to 5 cm but the rain will wash most of it away. The Avalon Peninsula and Burin Peninsula get rain only and the temperature will rise to close to the mid-teens.
