National Recognition for 2 NL Structures

Two local heritage structures have been recognized by the National Trust as Resilient Historic Places.

The Garrick Theatre in Bonavista and the Conception Bay Museum in Harbour Grace are among ten properties recently recognized with Ecclesiastical Insurance Cornerstone Awards.

Pat Collins is with the Conception Bay Museum which is located in the old Customs House in Harbour Grace.

The brick building dates to the 1870s and is an iconic structure on the shoreline in the middle of a recognized Heritage district.

The Customs House sits on the location of pirate Peter Easton’s former fortress and is next to Colston’s Cove Beach where one of John Guy’s men landed salt back in the 1600s.

Collins calls the award a great honour.
